Elegant Greek Estate Wedding
Virginia Wedding Photographer | Kali & Demetri

May 11, 2017

Its always a bitter sweet moment when you get really close to your brides then on the wedding day you suddenly realize that all of the wedding planning is officially done and the day is finally here. Kali was one of those brides that I just clicked with from the start. We spent many times talking over the phone discussing wedding details and figuring out ways to include certain elements throughout the wedding day. I feel so blessed to have had Kali as one of my brides and I have a feeling I will be seeing them in the future hehe.

Kali and Demetri met after her first semester of college and they have been together for about 9 years. Dememtri popped the question while they were in Greece. These two seriously couldn’t be anymore perfect for each  other, they truly fit like a glove. They are down to earth, they care so much about their friends and families. Last year when I photographed their Astroia, NY engagement session, they even took me out to some of their favorite local Greek food (which was delicious btw) after their session where I really got to know them and hear more about their families.

Kali wore her mothers lace wedding gown for her ceremony which I thought was such a special touch. Kali later changed into a beautiful Maggie Sottero ballgown for her reception. I was over the moon excited when I saw a Rolls Royce out in front ahhh (as Kali turned to me and said something along the lines of, I got you girl). Let me just say I’m pretty obsessed with the portraits I took of them inside it. Its been TWO whole years since I’ve had one of those beauties at a wedding and I took full advantage of it!

They kicked off the night with the Greek band, Powerstation Entertainment. Everyone formed circles and held hands. Now if theres one thing that I’ve learned after shooting my FIRST Greek wedding is that the Greeks can DANCE!! I mean literally dance for hours on end and not get tired. There were songs that were probably 10-15 minutes long too. And they also like to throw money up in the air as everyone is dancing which was pretty cool and great for some fun photos!

All of the speeches were so heart felt and although there were over 250 wedding guests in the room, those moments felt so intimate. That just tells me how much they have impacted all of the lives around them. Throughout the whole wedding day Kali was always making sure that I got the photos that I needed and I was taken care of. She was amazing! There were some challenges with the weather that we faced that resulted in me, my 2nd shooter, the two videographers, Kali and Demetri all being huddled under two umbrellas lol. The sky decided to down pour like FL rain right as we started their Bride & Groom portraits. Scroll all the way down to see the photo haha.
